To verify an ECE R37 H11 LEDr certificate, check that it covers the bulb you are buying. Compare the complete approval document with the bulb markings, the sample and the model on your quotation.
1. Get the complete documents
Ask for the UN R37 approval document, annexes, applicable extensions, product drawings and clear bulb-marking photos. Check the approval status, holder, approved type, H11 LEDr category and approval number. Missing or unreadable pages need clarification. For background, see ECE R37 certification.
2. Match them to the bulb
Compare the approval number, category, brand and rated voltage with the bulb’s markings. Check its construction against the drawings and inspect the physical sample, not just the packaging. If the sales model or construction differs, ask for documents explaining how that version is covered.
An E-mark alone is not enough: its country code identifies the approving authority, not the manufacturing origin. UN R10 documents cover electromagnetic compatibility and do not replace UN R37 approval.
3. Check the supplier and production version
If the seller is not the approval holder, ask for evidence linking the seller, manufacturer and holder. For private-label orders, confirm how your brand will be covered before approving artwork.
Check that the test reports identify the same type. Request a Conformity of Production (CoP) summary explaining ongoing inspections, change control and handling of defective units. Keep the reviewed files and compare the shipment with the approved sample. See the LEDr sourcing guide for the wider process.

4. Resolve doubts before ordering
Show the supplier exactly what does not match and request an explanation before approving packaging or placing the order. If doubts remain, contact the authority named in the UN R37 document through the UNECE authority directory. Send the approval number, holder and type names, document pages and bulb photos, and ask whether the approval covers that product.
